Peptide Graded

Oligopeptide-1

Does Oligopeptide-1 work?

Not properly: animal or lab studies, or small uncontrolled human reports. one 18-person study with no comparison group.

The human evidence in these sources is an open pilot study of an EGF serum in 18 volunteers with no control group. Larger controlled trials of oligopeptide-1 as a cosmetic have not been identified, and those that exist test it inside multi-ingredient products. Uncontrolled series put it at C. 1

The one human study found is a 2015 open pilot. 18 volunteers applied an EGF serum twice daily to the under-eye area. 16 completed it. Investigator grading showed a significant drop in under-eye bag severity. Most participants reported improvement. There was no placebo or vehicle control. So the effect of EGF cannot be told apart from the base formulation and the act of regular application. 1

Other published work tests EGF in skincare along with lasers, hyaluronic acid or antioxidant blends. That says something about the product. It says little about the peptide alone. These sources do not identify a controlled trial of oligopeptide-1 alone in aging skin. 1

Evidence checklist

  • Randomised controlled trial Open pilot only, no control group
  • Human study over 100 people Pilot had 18 volunteers
  • More than one research group Other studies use multi-ingredient products
  • Clinical outcomes, not surrogate markers Investigator-graded under-eye bags
  • Human safety data beyond case reports Small, short studies; long-term unknown
