Is KPV legal in the US?
No approved product. Since October 2026 a licensed pharmacy may compound oral or skin KPV under an HHS policy, but it is still unapproved.
KPV is not approved by the FDA for any use and is sold online as a research chemical, in oral, topical and injectable forms. The FDA moved it out of its category 2 safety-risk list in April 2026, and in July 2026 its advisory committee voted 8-6 to recommend adding it to the list of substances pharmacies may compound. On 28 October 2026 HHS issued an enforcement discretion policy covering KPV acetate in oral and topical forms only, compounded by licensed pharmacies and physicians for named patients under sourcing, testing, labeling and reporting conditions. Injectable KPV is not covered. The policy is not an approval. 456
